“The ability to really storytell with data, to translate between analytics and kind of the business effects ... If they’re seeing that truly those actionable insights are going to drive value, they’re going to buy into it.”

“When I think about big data and what we’re doing with prescriptive analytics and AI, it’s about how do I take that repetitive activity, crunching the numbers, creating the report, and spend less time on that – and more time on taking action?” Adams said in the article.
Using AI and prescriptive analytics is all about encouraging associates to take action based on data, he adds. It prompts associates to think smarter about the inventory they have on hand, and to reduce shrink. The analytics can also be used to spot crime, judge the effectiveness of sales and provide other benefits to retailers.
